Laminations begins operations in its first headquarters. The original product line consists solely of uncoated, unprinted VBoard® and VGuard®.
1975
HydraBoard®, the moisture-resistant edge protector, is added to the product line.
1976
Laminations becomes the first manufacturer to offer edge protectors with a clay-coated top sheet.
Laminations West begins as a separate company in City of Industry, Calif., producing cores and tubes.
1978
Laminations West begins manufacturing edge protectors in addition to tubes and cores.
1979
Laminations becomes the first manufacturer to offer one-color printing on edge protectors.
CautionBoard® caution-striped edge protectors are added to the product line.
1985
Laminations' first expansion plant is established in Red Hill, Pa.
1986
The restoration of the Statue of Liberty inspires the creation of the LibertyLine®, a new variation of VBoard featuring an image of the Statue with a choice of a "Made with Pride in America" or a "Grown With Pride in America" message.
That same year, a customer comment at a trade show leads to the introduction of CuttingBoard®, an edge protector pre-printed with a "Cut Film of Netting Here" message and a dotted line to encourage workers to cut on the board, not on the product.
1987
Laminations West merges with Laminations and moves to a larger facility in Ontario, Calif.
1989
Laminations is first again…this time offering two-color printing on edge protectors.
1990
Laminations stakes its claim in the Northwest territory, establishing an expansion plant in Wilsonville, Ore.
NotchBoard®, the edge and corner protector with a die-cut notch and score for easy folding, is added to the product line.
1994
PF PalletTop®, the pre-formed, laminated paperboard pallet top, is invented (and subsequently becomes patented).
SlotBoard®, the edge protector with slots that enable it to fit over bliss-box tabs, is also developed to help prevent load shift in the produce industry.
FlexBoard®, the edge protector with evenly spaced notches that enable it to conform to unusually shaped products, is also added to the product line.
1995
Laminations' East plant moves to a larger facility in Allentown, Pa.
Laminations becomes part of the Great Northern Corporation's Specialty Group.
1996
Laminations rolls out VBoard XPress™, providing 24-hour guaranteed shipping of unprinted VBoard and VGuard from coast to coast.
IdentiBoard™ edge protectors for color-coding inventory are added to the product line.
1997
Riveted UChannel™ is created from two edge protectors riveted together to protect, store and ship long, narrow products.
WBoard™, Laminations' innovative wraparound protective packaging system for long, narrow products, is created.
1998
Laminations celebrates its 25th anniversary.
Laminations' Southeast plant opens in Jacksonville, Fla.
Two new stocking hubs, in Denver, Colo., and Louisville, Ky., open to provide faster response time to customers in new geographic areas.
1999
Laminations' new headquarters and Central region manufacturing plant opens in Appleton, Wis., providing greater production efficiency and more capacity for growth.
2000
WrapBoard®, VBoard with a bright, white paper overwrap, is developed for better-looking, higher-performing edge protection.
2002
Laminations opens a new stocking hub in Salt Lake City, Utah.
2003
Laminations celebrates its 30th anniversary.
2004
Extruded VBoard®, a 100% waterproof, durable extruded plastic edge guard, is introduced by Laminations. Extruded VGuard® and Extruded FlexBoard® configurations are also developed.
ChannelLock™, unique edge protector designed to expand and contract to custom fit products, is created.
Laminations moves its West plant to a new facility in Fontana, California, to ensure optimal cost efficiencies in all process operations.
2005
QuikStik™, a "stay-in-place" edge protector that features a proprietary adhesive strip to allow for streamlined stretch wrapping, banding and loading, is developed.
2006
Laminations creates its line of Barrier Solutions edge guards and corner protectors, including:
- PetroShield™, a unique edge and corner protector solution designed for protecting products such as metal machine parts where oil or grease are present as a means to prevent rusting or increase lubrication, is developed. PetroShield's unique coating keeps oil and grease where they need to be—on the customer's product, rather than absorbing into the VBoard.
- HydroShield™, an edge protector with a water-resistant coating, is created.
- ScuffShield™, an edge protector designed to protect products with delicate surfaces, is developed.
2007
FlatBoard® is developed, an innovative packaging solution that is delivered flat and then transforms to fit a specific application's needs.
FlexRoll®, a continuous-length roll designed to protect curved, round and irregular-shaped products, is developed.
2008
UChannel®, customizable three-sided edge and corner protection designed to protect windows and doors during transport and storage, is developed.
