Laminations To Showcase New Edge Protectors with Shielding Properties at Pack Expo

New VBoard® coatings repel moisture, prevent abrasion, keep protective lubricants in place

APPLETON, Wis., Aug. 29, 2006—Laminations®, part of Great Northern Corporation’s Specialty Group, will showcase three innovative new VBoard® products with protective coatings at Booth E8656 of Pack Expo International 2006, Oct. 29-Nov.2, in Chicago. The specialized coatings are designed to resist absorption of water, oil and grease and to prevent abrasions to fine finishes.

• HydroShield™ features a water-resistant coating that helps VBoard maintain its protective integrity in environments where water and high humidity levels are present. HydroShield is particularly effective in the shipping and storage of produce and other food perishables.
• PetroShield™ has a coating that keeps oil and grease on the customer’s product by preventing their absorption into the edge protection. PetroShield’s coating is ideal for protecting metal machine parts and in other applications where oil or grease is used to prevent rusting or increase lubrication.
• ScuffShield™ features a coating that protects products with delicate surfaces from abrasion that can occur in shipping and handling. ScuffShield is the perfect edge protector for products such as wood furniture or appliances.

“We developed these three new products because customers told us they needed to protect their shipments from specific factors that can cause damage during transport, ” said Gary Hietpas, vice president, marketing and sales.

HydroShield, PetroShield and ScuffShield are available in multiple calipers and leg lengths or can be custom produced for a specific application.             

The new barrier coatings also can be applied to other Laminations product offerings. For example, customers can order PetroShield FlexBoard®, which is ideal for protecting steel rolls.

The Laminations booth at Pack Expo also will feature new QuikStik™, a self-adhering form of VBoard that temporarily sticks where placed to allow for easier stretch wrapping, banding and loading.

The patent-pending QuikStik features an adhesive strip on one of the outside or inside legs of VBoard edge protectors. A release liner covering the adhesive peels off quickly using conveniently located tabs to allow for easy placement.

QuikStik adheres to corners long enough to allow pallets to be wrapped or banded. QuikStik also can be used on the inside corners of boxes for easy loading and additional stacking strength.
