Laminations® Relocates Its California Facility

APPLETON, Wis., April 5, 2004-Laminations, part of Great Northern Corporation's Specialty Group, has relocated its Laminations West facility from Ontario, Calif., to Fontana, Calif. The move has resulted in increased production efficiencies that have improved quality and service, thereby enabling Laminations to better serve customers throughout the southwestern United States.

The decision to move grew from the sale last year of Laminations' spiral tube and core business, and the resulting need for less space. The new facility has 60,000 square feet of operating space, the design of which is ideally suited for manufacturing VBoard®, Laminations' major product line of paperboard edge protectors.

"Laminations' success hinges on how we respond to change, and this initiative is a proactive response to the changes in our product mix," said Richard C. Detienne, president of Laminations. "During this relocation, numerous enhancements to production efficiencies and capabilities, as well as plant safety, have been implemented. The end result is an even higher level of product quality and customer service."

The new facility is located just five miles from the old facility, which has made the change fairly seamless for current customers who are used to interacting with the company from the old site. "Customers will have the same convenient access and the same freight costs," Detienne said. The close proximity of the old and new facilities has also allowed Laminations to retain all current employees.
