Laminations Introduces New Abrasion-Resistant Edge Protection Product

ScuffShield™ features the protective strength of VBoard® with a smooth, soft interior surface

APPLETON, Wis., May 01, 2006—Laminations®, part of Great Northern Corporation’s Specialty Group, has created a new innovative VBoard® product with a special protective coating designed to prevent abrasions to furniture and other products with painted finishes.

ScuffShield™ features a coating that protects products with delicate surfaces from abrasions that can occur in shipping and handling. ScuffShield is the perfect edge protector for fine furniture and other products with painted or stained finishes.

The interior legs of ScuffShield have a special abrasion-resistant Michelman coating that seals off the rough fibers of the paperboard, leaving a smooth, waxy-feeling surface against the product. The result is sturdy edge protection that resists the scuffing and abrasion that can otherwise occur during shipping and handling of furniture and other products with delicate finishes.

ScuffShield can be custom manufactured at any of Laminations’ nationwide plants in lengths up to 300 inches. Leg lengths of 1.5 to 4 inches are available. Caliper options range from 0.060 to 0.500 inches.

The new ScuffShield coating also can be applied to other Laminations product offerings, such as PF PalletTop™.

In developing ScuffShield, Laminations engineering team looked to minimize any environmental impact.
